What's your favourite Luftwaffe aircraft of WW2?
|
Always liked the Me 109 but the Focke Wulf Fw 190 was a superb aircraft that was the best fighter around for a while.

cholo, JU 87 was a brilliant psychological weapon when used if the Luftwaffe had command of skies not so good when they didn't as in the BoB

True, but the pure theatricality of it made it worth its weight in gold.

Don't know much about their aircraft, as they generally just got their arses kicked by the RAF.
Went to the Bovington tank museum last year though and fuck me those cunts knew how to build monstrous tanks.
They could have made a difference if half of them hadn't broken down - very un-German like.

I always liked the Heinkel HE 111.
You got a good view out of the front, I would imagine.

ME 262 while being a brilliant innovation, was brought in too late to make any difference to the war, plus the idiot Hitler wanted to use them as a bomber

Me 163 Komet.
A rocket powered aircraft almost more likely to kill the pilot sooner than anyone else, especially on landing as it only had a skid, no gear..
This meant also meant that if they did land safely, they were very hard to move, so Allied pilots learned to follow them back to back to base and strafe them on the ground.
Also had a very small amount of fuel, so another strategy was to stay out of the way until they were dry and a little less dangerous.
These problems among others and a general lack of fuel meant that like the 262 it did not really have much effect. A surviving one I got to see.
